Victory State Bank Urges Holiday Shoppers To Avoid Pirated Merchandise

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Black Friday has arrived! Hopefully, with the weather in New York unusually mild for late November, merchants and shoppers on Staten Island, and throughout the metro area, will help lead the way to a stronger economy.

Holiday Shoppers can assist by patronizing legitimate retailers.

Victory State Bank urges consumers to avoid purchasing counterfeit or “pirated” goods.

According to the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dca/html/home/home.shtml), one in five jobs in New York City is at risk because of illegally downloaded movies, music and books and counterfeit designer goods.

Counterfeit and pirated merchandise also cost the city millions of dollars in lost tax revenue.
