5 Symptoms of ID Theft

Identity theft is a modern-day reality posing a threat to consumers and businesses alike. One way to minimize the financial chaos resulting from a personal breech is to recognize early on that your identity has been stolen –  and react quickly to limit and repair the damage, advises Victory State Bank.

According to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), companies have different policies for notifying customers when they discover that someone has accessed a customer database. However, you should be aware of changes in your normal account activity.

Victory State Bank, is highlighting the following examples listed by US-CERT as changes that could indicate someone has accessed your information:

1)       Unusual or unexplainable charges on your bills

2)       Phone calls or bills for accounts, products, or services that you do not have

3)       Failure to receive regular bills or mail

4)       New, strange accounts appearing on your credit report

5)       Unexpected denial of your credit card
