Staten Island Bank Points To Information Resource For Disputing A Credit Report Error
It helps to contact both the credit reporting company and the company that is the source of the information, advises Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Most people know that credit reports are important. Reports from the leading nationwide credit reporting companies help lenders determine your ability to pay back a loan and influence the percentage rate you will pay for a loan.
But what happens if a credit report is wrong?
Victory State Bank, Staten Island’s only community-based business bank, advises consumers to take action when a report is inaccurate.
To help, the bank points to guidelines from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that address steps for correcting credit-reporting errors.
