Watch Out For Parking Ticket Email Scam

Victory State Bank, Staten Island’s only community-based commercial bank, is warning consumers and business owners about an email scam disguised as a parking-ticket payment query.

The parking ticket scam has been highlighted by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) as an email phishing tactic.

According to the DCA, the emails, which appear to come from the NYC Department of Finance, ask you to open attachments or click on links to confirm parking ticket payments.

Do not open any attachments or click on any links, warns the DCA. Instead, ignore and delete the email.

Such emails could infect your computer with malware that can steal sensitive information like banking passwords, or it may install ransomware that could lock all files on your computer until you pay a fee.

If you want to check on the status of a parking violation, the DCA advises that you check with the Department of Finance at
