Saddened by Tragedy in France, Victory State Bank Highlights U.S. State Department Advice
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Nov. 16, 2015) – The people of Victory State Bank are deeply saddened by the tragedies that took place Friday in Paris. We join with our fellow Americans and other caring people throughout the world to offer our condolences at this difficult time and condemn such despicable acts of violence.
Terrorism unfortunately remains a threat in both the United State and abroad. If you plan to travel to a foreign destination, the bank suggests you review the latest reports from the U.S. Department of State.
The federal agency provides Travel Warnings and Alerts for locations around the globe.
The State Department issues a Travel Warning when it wants you to consider very carefully whether you should go to a country at all.
Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks.
The agency wants you to know the risks of traveling to these places and to strongly consider not going to them at all.
Travel Warnings remain in place until the situation changes; some have been in effect for years.
The State Department issues a Travel Alert for short-term events it thinks you should know about when planning travel to a country.
Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Alert might include an election season that is bound to have many strikes, demonstrations, or disturbances; a health alert, like an outbreak of H1N1; or evidence of an elevated risk of terrorist attacks.
When these short-term events are over, the agency cancels the Travel Alert.
