Last-Minute Holiday Shoppers: You're Not Alone
If you wait until the last minute to do most of your holiday shopping, it seems you may not be alone, says Victory State Bank.
Staten Island's only community-based commercial bank notes that the latest edition of the “Shoppers Trend Report” by digital offers marketplace RetailMeNot (www.retailmenot.com) found that 30 percent of consumers typically wait until the week of Christmas to do the majority of their holiday shopping.
Why the procrastination?
The report found that last-minute holiday shopping is more common than you think. Ninety-one percent of Americans have bought last-minute gifts during the holidays. The reasons for this behavior vary:
• 44 percent were undecided on what to get the recipient
• 30 percent became busy and ran out time
• 21 percent waited to see how much money they had left, received an unexpected gift, or simply forgot
